Dental history in children can predict future tooth decay

Dental-history-in-children-can-predict-future-tooth-decay

A new study has discovered that having a history of dental cavities significantly increases a child’s risk of developing decay in the future…

A new study has found that children who have had a history of dental cavities have an almost 50% risk of decay in the future. The study followed 227 children aged 10-18 years, all of whom had 20 teeth or more, and underwent two dental examinations where the dentist counted decayed, missing and filled surfaces. Of the 227 children, 128 were diagnosed with tooth decay and were found to have a 2.3 times higher risk for future tooth decay!

Maintain the health of your child’s mouth to give them the best start…

It is imperative your child sees a dentist as soon as their first tooth erupts or by their first birthday, whichever comes first. It is important not to wait until your child experiences dental pain to visit our Sydney dental practice.

At Hyde Park Dental Care in Sydney we endeavour to help your child create a healthy dental routine for your child’s future, and place importance on their own efforts to keeping their teeth beautiful and sparkling.
As a parent you play a highly active role in the dental development of your child, as well as their oral well-being – be the ultimate role model for your child by setting a good example of optimal oral health.
