World-renowned singer/songwriter Shakira breaks a tooth while filming The Voice
While on-set filming The Voice, Shakira bit down onto a cookie and instead of chocolate chip flavoured goodness, what she got instead was a broken tooth! The singer was promptly taken to the nearest dentist to receive emergency dental care – restoring her broken back molar to perfection!
If you suffer a dental emergency do not wait to call…
It is important to know that waiting until morning or waiting for a normal dental appointment could mean losing your tooth! A dental emergency is just that – an emergency and should be rectified as soon as possible. At Hyde Park Dental Care in Sydney, we are committed to helping our patients in an emergency situation and endeavour to give you the best treatment possible to save your tooth.
Emergency dental situations can include:
- A toothache
- A cracked tooth
- A broken tooth
- Injury to the soft tissue of your mouth (lips, gums etc.)
- An extruded tooth (pushed from a position)
- Tooth loss
If you experience any of the above it is imperative to call our Sydney dental practice to ensure your oral health is kept optimal.
Losing a tooth through injury or trauma…
If your tooth is knocked out or lost by physical trauma, it is vital that you see a dentist within 30 minutes. This could make the difference between saving your tooth and losing it forever. Pick the lost tooth up by the crown (not the root!) and gently rinse in water or milk. Do not scrape the tooth or root as this can damage it. The tooth should then be transported in the cheek of the patient, or alternatively in a glass or container of milk.
