Invisible braces can be used to resolve a range of orthodontic issues. If you would like to straighten your teeth and improve your smile, there are a number of orthodontic treatments available to you. If you are looking for a solution that is discreet, you might consider invisible braces. Invisible braces are a particularly popular choice for adults and teenagers because they are virtually invisible and convenient for most lifestyles. But do they work? Read on to find out what kinds of issues can be resolved with invisible braces and if they are suitable for your individual situation… What types of issues can be resolved? Invisible braces can be used to resolve a range of issues, including crowded and crooked teeth, as well as some bite issues. Bite-related problems, such as overbite, underbite, open bite and cross bite, can sometimes be addressed with the help of invisible braces. Closing gaps between the teeth can also be treated with invisible braces. While many issues can be resolved with the help of invisible braces, it is important to note that more complex orthodontic cases may be better suited to traditional braces. How can you ensure that your treatment is a success? Clear aligners are a thin “plastic-like” mouthguard which covers the teeth to move them incrementally over the course of treatment. Clear aligners generally achieve excellent results, but you can do a few things to make sure that they work as effectively as possible. It is very important that you wear your clear aligners for 22 hours a day. You must remove them for eating, drinking and brushing and flossing your teeth, as well as to clean the aligners themselves. If you have a special event the clear aligners may be left out for a few hours. It is also important that you take proper care of your clear aligners throughout treatment. You should clean them regularly but avoid cleaning the aligners in very hot water as this may distort the aligners. The duration of your treatment will depend on the complexity of your individual situation. On average the treatment time is between 6-12 months, which will be discussed during the planning phase of treatment. How can we help? At Hyde Park Dental Care we offer a few different types of clear aligners, including Invisalign, SmileStyler and QuickStraightTeeth. Invisalign uses a series of virtually invisible aligners that are custom-made to straighten the teeth. Each aligner is pre-programmed to exert a certain amount of pressure on the teeth to move them into new positions over time. To find out more about the treatment process, please have a look here. SmileStyler clear aligners are an Australian brand of aligners that work in much the same way as Invisalign. This treatment differs from Invisalign in that only six sets of aligners are made at a time before the next set of aligners are ordered. This helps to prevent delays if the treatment is not progressing exactly as planned. To find out more about SmileStyler, please have a look here. QuickStraightTeeth is a system that uses clear fixed conventional braces. The treatment focuses on the six to eight front teeth and generally achieves results in a fairly short period of time.
