Dental Check Ups Sydney CBD

Routine Dental Check-Ups in Sydney CBD

When it comes to your oral health, prevention is better than a cure.

We recommend scheduling routine dental check-ups  at our Sydney City dental practice every six months. During these appointments, your teeth are thoroughly examined and where appropriate, X-rays are taken to check for signs of decay.  We also utilise an intra-oral camera to detect decay, defective old fillings and cracks in the teeth.

These appointments allow Dr Joffe to check and treat potential risks to your oral health and include:

  • Professional tooth cleaning to remove the build-up of plaque and tartar.
  • Gums are examined for signs of gum disease such as gingivitis and periodontal disease.
  • Tooth wear due to overzealous brushing, chemical erosion (caused by high levels of acid in the mouth) or grinding (bruxism) of the teeth.
  • Discrepancies in the alignment of the teeth.
  • Dysfunction of the temporomandibular jaw joint.
  • Oral cancer examinations, as cancer of the mouth is the sixth most common type of cancer in the body (most commonly caused by smoking and excessive alcohol).

Regular dental check-ups In Sydney from Hyde Park Dental Care

Top tips for maintaining oral hygiene in between dental appointments

  • Brush your teeth twice a day angling your tooth brush at a 45-degree angle to clean under your gum line.
  • Floss your teeth daily to remove debris and plaque build-up on the surfaces of teeth that cannot be reached via brushing.
  • If your gums bleed or are painful during regular brushing and flossing schedule an appointment for a dental check-up at our Sydney clinic as soon as possible as this may be a sign of gum disease.

Why are routine dental check-ups so important for my family and myself?

At Hyde Park Dental Care we believe that prevention is far better than a cure, and by regularly visiting our practice we can actively support the development of optimal oral health for life. At our Sydney CBD practice, we encourage patients to make oral health a top priority, as we know that this is the best way to prevent costly, painful and extensive restorative treatment down the track. Remember, you don’t have to care for all of your teeth – just the ones you want to keep!

When is the best time for my child to have their first visit?

We believe it is never too early to forge healthy oral habits. One of the best ways to do this is to bring your child along to your next dental visit. By showing your child that visiting the dentist is a normal, healthy part of life you can help discourage the development of dental phobia. Dr Joffe is a great choice for your child’s dentist as he prides himself on delivering gentle, compassionate dentistry.
